Green Earth or Green Money:
Are there enough aspects of the Keystone XL Pipeline that benefit the locals to outweigh the damage it does to their lands?
The Keystone XL Pipeline is a controversial topic between the world and the individual, homes and corporations, family and business, life and money.
This case is focusing on the problem of the economy versus the environment in relation to the Keystone XL Pipeline. It has been, and continues to be, one of the biggest environmental and political debates in the United States. Everything about the pipeline is controversial: where the pipeline is being built, the damage the pipeline is causing on the environment, and the money that goes into and comes out of the pipeline. This case will specifically look into the ethics of the XL stage of the Keystone Pipeline as well as different shareholders’ opinions on the project today, with a focus on the environmental impact of the local areas. When looking at both sides of the debate - what the TransCanada Corporation claims versus what the environmental activists say - one will have to decide which side deserves a say over what happens with the land.
