The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has experienced a recent surge of Mpox cases throughout the country. As of August 14, 2024, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak as a public health emergency of international concern which is the highest level global alert that they can send out. Despite this variant being endemic to the DRC, this particular outbreak has raised concerns because of how widespread it has become. In this case study, we will investigate the challenges with controlling the outbreak of Mpox in the DRC and analyze the outbreak from multiple points of view through the use of a fictional story.
